Mr. Taylor's Agriculture Education

My name is Chesley Taylor, and I am your child's agriculture education teacher at the Jeff Davis Middle School. I duties include teaching agriculture within the classroom, supervising students' agriculture projects and managing the Jeff Davis Middle FFA Chapter. I began my career teaching Math and Science at the middle school and I was very fortunprofileate to transition to the agriculture department a few years back. I obtained my B.S. degree in Middle Grades Education from Georgia Southern University, a gifted endorsement from Valdosta State, a M.S. degree in Instructional Technology with an online education endorsement from Kennesaw State University, and I currently participate in 15-30 hours a year of professional development through CTEARN and GVATA to ensure that I am providing the skills, knowledge, and understanding that my agriculture students need to succeed while participating in the vocational activities that we teach through Ag. education and FFA.

I feel privileged to have your child in my class this year. He or she can expect to learn an infinite amount of career development and leadership skills. Agriculture education programs not only teach students how to be farmers, but also train tomorrow's scientists, nutritionists, teachers and so much more. A combination of classroom instruction and applied agriculture experiences outside of the classroom build the foundation for educated consumers and agriculturists. Your child will be allowed to participate in a variety of events such as livestock judging, poultry judging, prepared public speaking, conduct of chapter meetings, Agriculture technology and mechanical systems, and many more

The Jeff Davis Middle School FFA Chapter is registered as an affiliated account with the National FFA Association. This means that I pay one set amount at the beginning of every school so that every child that sits in my classes will be an FFA member at no cost to the parent or child. This is an awesome investment to me as an agriculture teacher because it ensures that all students have a chance to participate in FFA. I have a deep passion for the skills, knowledge, and life skills that I have learned from the agriculture industry over the years. I feel strongly that these experiences and connections I have made have shaped and molded me into the person I am today and I will strive to provide those experiences and memories with every student that sits in my class.
