Mrs. Torres-English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)

Hello! I am Mrs. Torres and I teach ESOL classes in grades 6-8 at Jeff Davis Middle School. I have been teaching ESOL classes for 11 years at JDMS. My love for teaching students who are learning English as their second language began when I first worked as a paraprofessional in the ESOL program many years ago. I have enjoyed seeing how students are able to use their native language and English to help them increase their knowledge.

I am married to my wonderful husband Jorge and we have three children together. Giovanni, Gustavo, and Gianna are also bilingual as Spanish is their first language and they have learned English as their second language. Giovanni and Gustavo attend school in Jeff Davis and Gianna attends a local daycare.

I obtained my Elementary Education Degree from Valdosta State University, a M.S. degree in Teaching English Language Learners from Walden University, and an Ed.S. degree in Instructional Technology from Kennesaw State University. I also have a gifted endorsement, I am certified in Spanish Education (P-12), ESOL (P-12), and I am currently pursing a reading endorsement.

I welcome all students in to my classroom with open arms. I have high expectations for all my students and hope to have a great school year!
