Mrs. Maybin - 7th Grade Mathematics

My name is Joni Maybin, and I currently teach 7th grade mathematics at Jeff Davis Middle School. This is my 13th year teaching, and absolutely LOVE my job! I have been married to my husband, Jeremy, for eleven years and have two beautiful daughters, Madelyn and Abby. I obtained my B.S. degree in Middle Grades Education from Georgia Southern University, a M.S. degree in Middle Grades Mathematics from Walden University, and an Ed.S. degree in Instructional Technology from Kennesaw State University. I also have a gifted and STEM endorsements.

I am excited to have your child in my class this year! He or she can expect to be challenged to meet high expectations set for them but also have fun while learning. I have always loved math, and my goal is to help my students love math a little (or a lot!) more. This year, we will cover a wide range of skills including rational numbers, expressions and equations, proportional relationships, geometry, and statistics/probability.

Some of the programs students can expect to use in my class are iLearn and IXL. iLearn is an ability based program that differentiates instruction based on the needs of students. IXL is a grade level program, in which lessons are assigned based on topics and skills covered in class. If a student has internet access at home, both programs are great resources to access at home.

Please feel free to contact me through email ([email protected]) or by calling the school at (912) 375-6750. I look forward to a great year! :)
